Never imagined I will become Deputy CM: Tejaswi

Patna, Sep 29 (IANS): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav revealed on Thursday that he never imagined he would become deputy chief minister so early in his political career.

"Main itni jaldi up-mukhyamantri ban jaoonga yeh kise maloom tha. (Who knew that I would become deputy chief minister so early)," Tejaswi, the younger son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, told media in Bhagalpur district.

Cricketer-turned-politician Tejaswi, 26, said when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dumped his ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2013 and later a Grand Alliance of the Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress was formed, no one visualised that the alliance will form the next government in Bihar after the assembly polls in 2015.

"It is too early to say who will become the next chief minister of Bihar. It will be decided by the people. Decision of people through secret ballot is unknown," he said.

Tejaswi said Nitish Kumar is "PM material" and reiterated that the incumbent Bihar Chief MInister is "more capable than Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become the next PM".

He credited Nitish Kumar with transforming a backward state like Bihar into a first ranker in terms of growth rate, development and of ease of doing business, and said Bihar now ranks 22nd in crime according to a recent report of National Crime Record Bureau.

These are enough reasons to prove the vast capability of Nitish Kumar, Tejaswi said, calling the JD-U chief his 'political guru'.
