Udupi, Oct 1: Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji, head of Paryaya Pejawar Math, said that he has advised his disciple, union water resources minister, Uma Bharti, to ensure that Karnataka does not face injustice in the issue of Cauvery river water dispute. "I called her up and drew her attention towards the rough treatment the state is getting in courts on this issue. I asked her to properly consider all the issues and see that our state does not face injustice. She has responded positively," Swamiji said here on Friday September 30, speaking to media persons.
He hastened to clarify that he does not have anything against Tamil Nadu. "The agreement on which the dispute is based was entered into during the British era. That was an agreement during a period of bonded rule. Because courts are basing their decisions on this agreement, we are not getting justice. I have convinced Uma Bharti about this aspect," he stated.
The Swamiji also congratulated prime minister Narendra Modi for precision attack on terrorists inside Pakistan territory. He said he wanted such an operation from the Indian side after learning about killing of soldiers at Uri. He reminded that USA too had undertaken such measures to annihilate Osama Bin Ladan.
