Mangalore, Dec 23: A group of miscreants attacked End Time Full Gospel Harvesters India, a prayer centre at Kankanady here while they were busy praying on Sunday December 23.

The children were rehearsing songs for christmas celebrations when the incident took place.

A group of fifty children along with four teachers were busy praying when around 20 to 25 miscreants entered the centre and attacked the group.

Three were seriously injured and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Thirty students have been beaten up badly.

District superintendent of police N Satish Kumar and former Ullal MLA U T Khader visited the place and promised the aggrieved persons that justice would be given to them.

I am sad for the children who were attacked and their parents. Also for any minority community, including my own, that has to live under such uncertainty and fear of such incidents. Upon reading a couple of other reports on this incident, I was surprised to see the last names of so-called miscreants that police have arrested. I am curious to find out if the last names stated by the miscreants to the police or disclosed to the public by the police are covers, e.g., " Bantwal" as a cover for the real last name? Unless the case is filed with real identity of these people, this police action and subsequent legal process may end up as an eye-wash.

While we can talk and express sympathy with the aggrieved, it is important that a few local community leaders form an Action Committee and take systematic follow up measures to see this case through - with the local MLA, MP, State Govt. and if need be getting the central govt. involved in proper investigations so that such incidents will never happen again. If we neglect these what may seem to be small incidents, I am afraid, very soon we will have another Modi-like leader ruling a traditionally peaceful and cosmopolitan state of Karnataka.

These seemingly sporadic incidents that have happend in the last few years in Mangalore are certainly wake-up calls.....and we all are going to be sorry for Mangalore and Karnataka if these calls get louder to reach the international investors who will walk away from Mangalore as a place to live, invest and do business!

It is always the weak and innocent who are targeted by evil minds. No excuses whatsoever justify this attack. All right thinking people should join in condemning these attacks.

Looks like the situation in the district is going from bad to worse. The fact that these criminals don't seem to even have a problem with assaulting children shows the mindset of the ideoology they're supposed to represent .

This is happening solely because these goondas have support from politicians and a section of the police (and, let us face it, a passive section of people in the district). The arrests are a drama. They'll be free in a few days time as usual, with some trivial bailable (and non-cognizable) offence registered against them. This drama has happened before and is going to be repeated again

Religious preaching is permitted but not religious poaching? OK.But where is the justification for unprovoked violence that too when small inncoent children are there. What values will they imbibe from such behaviour ?

If any organisations are confident in their capacity to mobilise people my suggestion is - attack the corrupt officials so that corruption will come down, agitate to bring down the bus fares which are almost 45 percent high, fight for introduction of the JanShathabdi Express from Mangalore, fight against Nagarjuna and save enviornment, stop the ore lorries and save our roads, fight against the donation menace in educational institutions and so on... and these are more important to common man.

Hope that the energies of these organisations will be focussed in the right direction or else they will lose credibility.

'Komu Sauharda Vedike' men's demand to take action against the miscreants is right. But strange, at the same breath they demand release of the law-breakers and the ones who tried to attack the police personnel in the Bengre-Kasba case!

Is it a secret that Vishwa Hindu parishad, Bajrang Dal and BJP are involved in this attack. The whole system knows who is responsible for this attack, Yet no one wants to do anything about it. As Christians, we may never resort to violence and thats the strong point that we have but does that mean we will continue to silently view the mess happening in this city.

Afterall, Children... What have they done to these FANATICS. Moreover, Unless we stand as Christians we will not survive here... It will not be too late before we see one of our very own churches being Vandalised... For BJP though its MODI Fever, With GUJARAT as their stronghold they are dreaming of making Karnataka a Hindu state.... Are we going to allow this? Btw... Our MP Mr Sadanand Gowda does not deserve to be there... and needs to be taught a good Lesson. I hope the people of Mangalore will do so in the coming elections... I just wish there is a young man/women to fight our cause... Is there anyone Here?

While the above incident should be condemned by all irrespective of religious affiliations, I wish that those who have been supporting these type of incidents either vocally or silently to state through this medium what was the justification for such attacks?

Were the group or the children were creating any problems for anybody or just they wanted to terrorize the Christians into keeping quiet or any other reasons? There are definitely a lot of persons who are silently supporting these acts of intolerance and goondaism. Let them be bold and state their version of these acts, or otherwise join those who are condemning these acts.

I wonder what harm the children had caused these barbarians. This is also a wake up call for those who think it's cool to denounce secular parties. It had become a fashion to denigrate secular parties and praise communal elements. Incidents such as this attack have shown a huge increase ever since the last election when the BJP won most seats.

In fact, it is due to the support of such politicans that these people get bold enough to commit such acts and get away with it.

It is shameful and coward act. Once again fundamental forces are busy in disturbing the peace and harmony. Let them explain the motive for such an act. It is still again proved that the minority community of this country still does not enjoy the real freedom.

Elections approaching I thought all the cats will be belled at least for the moment. But that does not seem to be the case....and attack on innocent children...what are they sick? Mr. UT Kadher rightly came in there. I wonder what he might have to say on this tragedy exactly a month later. Frankly, such surprise, senseless attacks cannot be solved by the police once and for all, politicians with a will can.

Those have carried out this attacks are not human beings and either they don't know the human value and I would like to also mention that they are not miscreants call them TERRORISTS.

I think most people realise the group that is behind this henious act. Are these people so barbaric that they don't spare children too? While the MLA of the neighbouring constituency had the decency to visit the congregation, I wonder why the local BJP MLA and our infamous MP (who usually opens his mouth at the drop of the hat) did not find it fit enough to visit the place ? Do they have something to hide (or some people to protect?)
