Mangaluru, Oct 4: In a rare incident in the region, 8 persons armed with revolvers and other weapons barged into a house at Gidikere and walked away with 82 sovereign of gold and Rs 50,000 cash in the early hours of Tuesday, October 4.
The armed robbery took place at the house of Vasudev Asranna, one from the family of Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple administrators. He is also a hereditary priest of the temple.
8 armed robbers came to the house in a vehicle after midnight and took away 82 sovereign of gold and Rs 50,000 cash after they threatened four occupants of the house, three women and a man.
Bajpe police inspector T V Nagaraj with his personnel arrived at the place to take up further investigations. Finger print experts and canine squad too have visited the place.
Police commissioner Chandra Shekar and other top police officers visited the place.
It is believed that the police have taken the case seriously.
The rare incident has shaken the region.
