Kasargod: 4 kg silver, 56 sovereign gold stolen from jewelry shop

Kasargod, Oct 4: Thieves entered a jewelry shop owned by gold merchants association district secretary K Ashok at kundamkuzhy and decamped with around half kgs jewelry and four kgs of silver from the shop.

The theft came to light on Tuesday morning, October 4. Thieves reportedly entered the shop after breaking the shutter. They later broke the locker and took away four kgs silver, 56.25 sovereign gold and Rs 10,000 cash from the shop.

It is learnt that the shutter was cut using electric cutter. There are two lockers in the jewelry and the mini locker was broken. The thieves could not break the big locker.

The shutter and locker were cut using electricity from the main switch outside the jewelry shop. The thieves pulled down the shutters after the theft which delayed the detection of theft.

District superintendent of police Thomson Jose, circle inspector C B Thomas, forensic experts and the dog squad arrived at the place and conducted investigation.
