Udupi, Oct 5: Father of Chaithra, who jumped into the river from Kallianpur bridge sometime back and committed suicide, has complained to police, alleging that the lover of his daughter and two other youngsters were responsible for this incident.
Chandrashekhar from Lingotigudde in Subrahmanyanagara in Puttur village near here filed the said complaint. His daughter, Chaithra, had suddenly jumped into the river on September 28, and her body was found after two days.
Some passersby had seen Chaithra (18) sobbing when talking over phone when walking towards her home after alighting from a bus on the evening of September 28. Thereafter she had suddenly abandoned her possessions including sandal and cellphone on the bridge and jumped into Suvarna river from Kallianpur bridge before people nearby could react. Her body was found on September 30 morning from near Honnala mosque some distance away.
Chandrashekhar said that Chaithra worked in a concern named 'Net Eye' having its office in Ambalpady. A youth named Adarsh was in love with her and he had visited the victim's home often in the past. Her family too was agreeable to conduct her marriage with the youth. "On September 28, two young friends of Adarsh had escorted her away and dropped her back at home the same evening. It appears that Adarsh, Pavan, and Sagar did something wrong with her during the period she was with them. Because of this incident, we feel she jumped into the river the same day," Chandrashekhar stated in the complaint.
