Kochi, Oct 5: Subhani, an accused who was arrested in Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu in connection with suspected Islamic State (IS) module in Kerala is said to be a trained computer engineer by profession. But he also assisted his father in family business for some time. At the time of arrest he was working as a salesman. In fact, he had played many roles in his profession before being apprehended on the charges of having IS links.

Though they belonged to Tirunelveli, his father migrated to Thodupuzha in Kerala 40 years back and started garment business which he still runs. Subhani is third among four siblings. All of them except Subhani live in and around Thodupuzha.

After his graduation, Subhani worked in a firm in Kochi for a while as computer engineer. But then he came back and joined his father in business. After assisting his father for some time, he went to Tirunelveli and got married in 2012. Later in 2013 he went abroad. But after that he never returned to his hometown. As per available records now, it is not known when he returned from abroad.

At the time of his arrest he was working as a salesman in a jewellery shop of his relative in Kadayannalur in Tirunelveli for salary of Rs 10,000. Some men who were arrested in Kannur recently gave information about Subhani which led to Subhani’s arrest.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths who visited Thodupuzha and Kochi on Tuesday October 4, met Subhani's siblings and recorded statements. While doing so, they met a cousin of Subhani who said that when he had gone to Tirunelveli recently, he had brought a mobile phone belonging to Subhani for repairing. The mobile phone is believed now to provide vital clues.

Subhani's neighbours said that he was not talking much to anybody. He left for work early and came back home late without interacting with anybody much.

..'He left for work early and came back home late without interacting with anybody much'.this is the sign parents look for..may be he is hiding something, planning something or in depression..when active boys or girls withdraw themselves, its time for close check & counselling..its really alarming to read these people planning to replicate PARIS attack by ramming a truck to the crowd..Hope state Govts wake up to the reality..

    Ramesh,
Trust me. whatever you have written was exactly what I wanted to write, then I read your comments. The only additional statement is that parents must have any eye on their children's addiction to social media and give them regular counseling.
