No reason now to release video of surgical strikes: Parrikar

Agra, Oct 6 (IANS): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said there is no reason to release the video of the surgical strikes across the Line of Control after what has been brought out by the media on the army action.

Bringing an end to the demand for disclosure of evidence of the surgical strikes conducted across the Line of Control (LoC), he said: "After the telecast of the interview of the Pakistan police officer by a news channel on the surgical strikes, there is no reason left to release the video of the strike."

"I am happy that a TV channel worked as a detective and spoke to SP of Mirpur range in PoK," Parrikar said.

The Defence Minister also thanked CNN News18 TV channel, and added, "No more proof is needed… the media has given enough proof."

Lauding the army for the surgical strikes, he said, "I am proud of our soldiers, when asked to conduct a surgical strike not only they conducted a strike but achieved hundred per cent success. World would not have seen such a perfect surgical strike ever. Our soldiers are capable of performing a perfect strike which is not heard even from forces of the leading nations."

Parrikar further said,"I can assure you that under the leadership of Narendra Modi the borders of India are safe. On one hand, I am asking you to be assured but on the other hand there are elements in the country who have raised question on the bravery of the Indian forces. I don't wish to name them."

The Minister thanked and praised the retired servicemen for writing to him and expressing their desire to serve at the border in case of war. He was addressing a public event in Agra.

He also advised people to remain vigilant and observant as there are elements who are ready to attack the armed forces "out of frustration" due to the success of the surgical strikes, and added if any one observes any "suspicious elements" then one should bring it to the notice of the forces.

"The honour that you have bestowed upon me, I think you are honouring our soldiers and I will convey this to them. I want to assure you that this Defence Minister, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, will do whatever is expected of him," Parrikar said.

Congress and anti BJP people do not spare even our beloved jawans for defaming. They may be afraid that t"heir ruling the country is over for ever.So our future PM Rahaul Gandhi is calling PM as "khoon ke dalali" desperately.
In case a decision is taken by the govt to show videos of surgical strike, later people may demand videos of freedom fight, emergency days etc., as to know who were all in the field caste wise, religion wise etc.,I am keen to know about our freedom fight to know which religion did not faught for freedom and sided with British.

Indians are disgusted by the BJP government constantly lowering the standard of political discourse and political behaviour. BJP politicized Rama temple in Ayodhya and did not allow Parliament to function when it was the opposition party. Now it has politicized national security by using the alleged surgical strikes to canvass for votes in the 2017 UP elections.

Your govt. cordially welcomes our sworn enemy Pakistani investigating agency and takes them for a tour of Pathankot Airbase which none of the countries of the world do this blunder for security and strategic reasons, but you don't have a single evidence to prove surgical strikes to fellow Indians or to present the evidence in the parliament for ministers approval. Your blind and idiot Bhakts will anyway believe you and your sponsored media but not people like Kejriwal. Keep the armed forces out of this discussion.

Appreciate the right stand taken by the Govt and ignoring the sense less demand made by fools existing in country (which is very unfortunate). The national security comes first than politics and satisfying the dongi antinationals. These fools don’t even have minimum commonsense that publishing such video’s will hinder operation capabilities of our special forces and enemy will get clear picture of strategies used by our forces. The demands of these fools will never end. By chance you show video, they will question authenticity of it. And if you prove authenticity, they will call it as staged drama and so on.

I agree that in democracy Govt is expected to function with upmost transparency. However, anything related to national security does not come under purview of transparency and it is the duty of Govt of the day to maintain those secrets.
That is why even under right to information act, you are not allowed to seek any information related to national security.

Most notable thing is even defense personnel (both retired and in service) were against making SS videos public.

So the Govt has done right job by ignoring fools.
