Bengaluru, Oct 7: Five private complaints were filed against former chief minister and BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappa before the Lokayukta special court in connection with land denotification on Thursday, October 6.
The cases will be heard on October 27.
Complainant Sirajin Basha had filed five separate private complaints against Yeddyurappa on January 22 and 24 in 2010 before the court. The then governor H R Bhardwaj had given the sanction to prosecute Yeddyurappa.
But Yeddyurappa had moved the High Court seeking quashing of complaints challenging the governor’s sanction. The High Court in its verdict had quashed the complaints against the former chief minister.
Basha later moved the Supreme Court challenging the Karnataka High Court’s verdict. The Supreme Court upheld the High Court’s verdict observing that the governor’s decision was illegal.
Basha once again approached present Governor Vajubhai Vala seeking his sanction for the same. The governor in his communication clarified that no such sanction was required now as Yeddyurappa was no longer a chief minister of Karnataka.
