Mangaluru: Auction held for second edition of Mangalore Premier League

Mangaluru, Oct 7: The players' auction for the second edition of the Mangalore Premiere League (MPL) was held in the Forum Mall on Friday, October 7.


The evening had the presence of Coastalwood hero Arjun Kapikad. Arjun remembered the cricketing moments he spent during his college days and also mentioned that some of his classmates are now among the emerging cricketers of MPL. He spoke about his upcoming movie 'Barsa' which will hit the silver screens on October 13, and requested everyone to watch the movie.

Speaking on the occasion Ismail from Real Tech opined that the auction will help players to realize their importance.
Mohammed Mansoor speaking on the occasion said that this event will take the sporting arena of the city to the new level and will give global platform for the local talents.

Zaheer from Al Muzain travels wished that the MPL may become successful like its previous edition.

Ramakrishna welcomed the gathering while Imthiaz rendered vote of thanks.

This year the number of teams has been increased to 12 and every team has its icon player with the base price of Rs 25,000.

The player who received the highest bid was Naveen M G bought by Udupi Tigers for Rs 75,000 and the second highest bid was for Mohammed Taha of Rs 73,000 bought by Coastal Digest. 

The players who participated in Karnataka Premiere League in their respective franchises caught the attraction of people during the auction.

    This auction is held for namesake. In the final eleven only 3 to 4 players will be who play well, other 7 to 8 players will be guys whose fathers give sponsor to the teams.
