Udupi, Oct 8: A woman has complained with Udupi rural station police that three persons took money from her with the promise of releasing her murder accused son from jail and then later threatened her with dire consequences if she demanded her money back.
Sahira Banu (48) is the complainant. She allegedly had given money to Udupi Karmika Vedike district president Ravi Shetty alias Deal Ravi (32), Chandrika Shetty (48) from the Vedike and Prasanna Padmanabha Kumar, the founder president of Karnataka Janatha Party (KJP).
As per the complaint lodged at Udupi city police station, Mohammed Hanif , son of Sahira Banu is the r accused in Athradi murder case. Ravi Shetty and Chandrika introduced Shahira Banu to Prasanna and they promised that her son will be released from jail if she paid them Rs 15 lacs.

Sahira has claimed that she agreed for the same and gave them three cheques for Rs 5 lacs each and also a cash amount for Rs 70,000. She also signed an agreement saying she owed them money.
When her son was not released as promised, Sahira demanded her money and cheques back, but the trio allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she took any step of complaining to police. She says in the complaint that the trio told her that they control police.
Sahira Banu has lodged the complaint at Udupi city police station and requested the police to take action against the accused.
Chandrika Shetty has meanwhile said that the allegations made against her and other two are false and she will give clarification to the media on Sunday October 9, with relevant evidence and documents.
