Udupi, Oct 9: Baby, mother of Praveen Poojary from Kenjur here, who was attacked by a gang allegedly for illegal transport of cattle, held ruffians belonging to Hindu organization responsible for the death of her son. "I too have bought the cows out of my own money for dairying activity. But people from some Hindu organizations murdered my son in the name of cows. This is unbearable," she lamented.
Baby, who spoke to members of 'Chalo Udupi' team which came in a jatha from Bengaluru, who met her on Saturday October 8, said that his son's pickup vehicle was hired by someone on that fateful day. "My son never did anything wrong to anyone. He was operating a poultry farm and also earned something out of his vehicle. Even after my son told the attackers that the cows did not belong to him and that he had only rented the vehicle, and asked them to check with the police if they want proof, the gang of inhuman rowdies indiscriminately attacked my son.
It appears that they consider the life of a cow more important than that of a human being. We were planning to conduct Praveen's marriage shortly. I have lost my son who was working independently without creating problems for anyone. I hope the abyss of sadness I have been wading through does not befall on anyone," she said.
The members of 'Chalo Udupi' team told her that they too have been disturbed by a spate of attacks and murders of this kind all over India. They said they were here to ensure that she gets justice. They promised to carry on their fight for justice till Baby gets gets it.
