Both the injured artistes are from the city. They had performed tiger dance till late evening around Kaup and were coming back to the city to return the skull portion of their costume. They were trying to overtake another vehicle when their vehicle collided with the barricade, eyewitnesses said. The motor bike thereafter dragged the barricade with it for some distance before stopping, it is gathered.
Locals say that the barricades set up across the highway have been giving rise to accidents as they are not removed even at night and they have not been fitted with reflector lights. At night vehicles coming at high speed fail to see the barricades many a time. Traffic police too say that several barricades have become unusable after having been hit by a number of vehicles.
A case about the accident stands filed in city (north) traffic station, on the basis of complaint filed by a local, Vijay Poojary Beluvai. Identities of the injures are yet to be ascertained.
