Mangaluru: Two arrested for spreading fake news through WhatsApp

Mangaluru, Oct 14: Police personnel from Pandeshwar station here have arrested two persons, who have been accused of spreading fake news relating to a family from Salmara by using WhatsApp. The accused had also provided link of a publication in their message.

The arrested accused happen to be Abubakker Siddique (28), a resident of Tarigudde in Puttur, and Junaid (36) from Salmara, Puttur. The two had posted a fake news item concerning a family from Salmara on September 24, duly providing therein link to a publication. The editor of the publication in question had filed complaint in Pandeshwar police station about this wrongdoing.

The policemen, who investigated the case, arrested the concerned from near Aruna theatre at Puttur and confiscated the mobile handsets used for spreading false information, it is gathered. They are continuing with investigation.

    Well done,let them learn some lesson as well as those who are misusing social media also learn.Now a days social used to malign personality,religion and used for settling scores.Police need to focus those cyber crime and punish culprits so that hatemongers will reconsider before inking un parliamentary materials.
