Bengaluru: Actor Darshan's house, Shamanur hospital to be razed on Oct 22

Bengaluru, Oct 15 (DHNS): The Bengaluru Urban district authorities have decided to demolish on October 22, the Shamanur Shivashankarappa Hospital and Kannada film actor Darshan's house that have been built on a stormwater drain in Raja Rajeshwarinagar.

Besides, 67 houses in Ideal Homes Layout will also be bulldozed. Sources in the district administration told DH that the final notices to vacate the buildings will be issued shortly so that the buildings can be brought down.

Two months ago, a survey revealed that Ideal Homes Layout was sitting on a stormwater drain and causing flash floods. The district authorities had earlier issued notices seeking explanation from the property owners why their buildings should not be demolished for being located on a stormwater drain. “The property owners submitted their replies and they were not convincing as they did not match with our revenue records. We will ask the owners to vacate the buildings and demolish them on their own. Else, we will bulldoze them and slap demolition charges on them,” said a senior officer in the Revenue department.

Following flash floods after the rains on July 28, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike went on a demolition spree razing buildings which had encroached upon stormwater drains in parts of the city.

Many houses were razed at Dodda Bommasandra, Arskere and Kasavanahalli. The drive came to a halt due to the violent agitation over the Cauvery water sharing dispute and the festival season.

if the buildings are illegal.. how did they constructed without BBMP permission... if given permission, do they give permission blindly without checking who's land it is ... can anyone take approval to build house on anyone's land.. the approving authority must take responsibility of damages / expenses incurred by occupants.

Rule is rule applicable to all. Already BBMP carried out demolition of so many houses which had encroached the Raja canal. So many residents who were cheated by the land mafia became the target, lost their dream houses. Now, why to regularize these buildings of rich and influential people? Let the demolition drive go on.

Crores of rupees white wash. Take against the BBMP Officers etc who are involved in it. Try to retain the Hospital by regularising the encroachment.

Mr DSouza, whether writing from Mangalore/Bangalore hardly matters. It will not change the demolition order. How can illegal structures be regularized. Sitting in Mangalore and commenting no good.

Who is this Mahesh Anchan? I wanted to clarify the matter with Shankar who has given his comments. I wanted to clarify not with the encroachment. But about blocking of storm water. Dont interpret things in a wrong way. Though I am in Mangalore I gather news from News papers and T.V. news.
