nowerdays youth probably donot know value of elders there are lagging behind. i condemn assault. But mangement should have informed parents through letter so this thing would not happen. this student should be thought and drilled more moral value for time. its nice that you have a hot blood in you while assualting but one day when you grow up you will know when you control your children. We still love our milagres, i am an old student where we were thought good culture and discipline by best teachers.

It's really sad. I feel pity for these people, I wonder what guidance they get from parents. I remember 3 years ago a fellow classmate of mine assaulted a lecturer in front of my own eyes. And the parent was on the students side. I feel the schools and colleges must educate the parents before the educate the students during the PTA.

I agree with NJN. Let us not condemn them but forgive them and correct them. Condemnation will ruin his future, but, if he is corrected, he can be the best student. Meeting should be arranged between this student along with parents and Principal. Dear Fr. Michael, we all are saddened by this move and we pray that God enlighten this student. Essence of Christianity is to forgive the enemy and pray for them.

When we were in school we used to get caned for even small mistakes, the blotches used to take a week to clear, even sometimes used to get slapped for creating mischief, but we used take in the tide, not keeping any grudge or remorse!! Today the morals of children have gone down abysmally due to various reasons like lots of money, easy life, gizmos, and watching violent movies/porn etc.!! During the impressionable age of 13-18 the gush of hormones is so much that they r confused and get rebellious if not given proper luv n guidance! And if the child is a spoiled brat then that is enough to bolster his ego and make him to think he can do anything and escape!! Any which way, this boy should ask forgiveness from the principal and give an unconditional apology before his class so he dare not raise his hand on anyone in the future!!

Teacher/student meeting should be there every week. So that teacher student relationship becomes more intimate. After all they are youngsters between 13 and 20 this age is sensitive. And in olden days children grow with their parents. So they get enough love from parents and bros or sisters. Now it's not like that parents have no time to spend wid their children. And most of the children come home only for sleeping!! They remain most of the time outside. Parents should keep an eye on the movements of their child.

Assaulting the principal of a college is a very lowly act and reflects on the boys upbringing!! However, since he is young, first time offender, this boy should immediately shun his ego/fear and give an unconditional apology instead of absconding, it is parents duty to force him to apologize! In that case, he can be counselled and forgiven for his mistake in view of his future!!

It should be noted that demanding bribe and pushing a woman from their community brings together hundreds of people to railway station in protest. Why, in this instance, they don't gather in support of the victim ? Because, they know that the boy is wrong.

If they continue to be silent, the result will be that coming academic year, the community will be shun by school/colleges. Do understand, how, because of some criminals, the houses are not rented/property not sold to the community.

Relent, apologise and present the boy - do not take this as threat, this just an advice. I don't belong to administration of school/colleges, I am one from common public and this is for your own good.

In the first place, assaulting someone is a serious offence and nobody has the right to lay hands on another. Such type of hooligans should be kicked out from the school. If there is no adequate attendance, can any institution allow such students to appear for the exams? After all, rules are rules and one has to strictly adhere to them.

    The students learn many things.

But where does a man learn how to be a principal?

Many men work as principals without either being trained for it or being capable to be a humane senior to the adolescent students who are growing up through various difficulties.

So, while it is all to easy to blame the student, in my opinion, the men who are not trained to be principals should not step into the role.

Assaults are bad - physical or verbal. I have witnessed principals all too often verbally assaulting young students who have no one to defend them.

Who has given the right to the principals to verbally assault the students?

No one gave the rights to assault students. But who gave the rights to assault Principal?
students can raise these incidents to higher authorities. It's shouldn't be like an eye for an eye.
And students also has to think that whatever the teacher or the Principal says is better for their future.
It depend how they accept it. If in positive scence then they will grow, but if in negative then they spoil their future.

physical assault on a principal cannot be condoned. not being allowed to write the exam as a result of attendance shortage was bad enough, but by resorting to violence on the administrator he has landed himself in soup. communicating his problem in an appropriate way or deciding to change his ways for the better would have been a better option.

There should be some serious reason (such as abusing Religion or parents etc )that has made a student to raise his hands on Principal, else no student will dare to raise hands on Principal.

Whatever be the reason, a student raising hands to Principal or any teacher is an utter disrespect to teacher, elder & as well Ilm (knowledge) gained.

If it was a serious issue the student should have taken the matter to family or elders or any other sources to take action against Principal, but raising hand on teacher is unethical.

In today's modern, none of the youngsters has patience to listen elders. We are growing modern but leaving being out moral ethics.

We had never heard such cases while we were studying no matter how ever worst the situation be. This is ridiculous.

If the Principal has abused, then he has to apologies to the student, and the punishment to a student should be to expel from College.

    Brother Joseph,

I have not anybodies side here. It's just based on my assumptions from both angles like how Police or Intelligence department thinks.

I do very well aware that Church fathers will never abusive anybody as we ourself have studied under many great Fathers and sisters, even now our families kids are studying under the same.

Since these kind of case's are very rare to be heard, I assumed there should be something gone wrong where student lost his patience and assulted a teacher. One cannot even imagine a student raising hands on Principal just for a reason of asking student for his/her attendance???

I am not justifying the student here nor supporting him for his assult as it's a grave sin to raise our hands on teachers, coz teachers are our second parents. I clearly mentioned in my earlier comment to expel the student as a punishment.

As a normal person hearing the news from far away place, judging from both angles and trying to figure out what really angered a student to do such heinous act. It cannot be just mere advise of attendance issue. If it's really a mere attendance issue then defiantly the student is a short temper guy and is danger to society as in future he cannot commit more grevious crime coz of his bad temper. Fell pity on parents.

Ahmed..knowing the principal, your comments are just ridiculous. This is a serious matter and student need to be punished. He has no right to attend college as he has shown his character. Today he has assaulted principal and tomorrow he might kill somebody. I pity his parents and I am sure his parents don't have time to correct their son.

Ahmed, You are smart enough to PAINT the unfortunate incident and GOONDAGIRI of the so called student by Religious Color. If same thing was happened by a Majority community student your lecture would have been different. Grow up man!!!!! & take care about him where I afraid sometime we will read the news that "a particular person from Mangalore arrested by NIA for the LINK.....?"

How come these rowdy students get admitted into reputed colleges? They need to be barred from all colleges. Education is not meant for them.

Why is the institution accepting the money poured by such students. Why cant the administrators go only by merit.

Dr Kamath those interested in not attending can register in open universities. once you register for a full time course one has to follow rules and attend at least 75% classes

This is too much!!! If this boy today lift his hand on teacher tomorrow this one will not hesitate to assault his parents!! So punish him now itself !! Now a days I saw children don't listen to anyone. They have enough money to spend!! Parents may be working abroad and they don't know what's happening around!! Finally the children land up in a. Bad shape without guidence from parents

Such students who has no respect for teachers should be sacked from college & should be seen to that he will not be allowed to answer his exams for his life time
It seems that he is a rich person's son or might be there are no elders in his family to guide him

First not having enough class attendence ,and assault principal.where are we heading?Does parents not knowing about it?Principal should have informed parents first about the Student.Assaulting is not a solution. Now it became not only a case, everyone know about it,and examination also is not to think.Should be punished for it.
