Mangaluru, Oct 21: “BJP leaders including MP Shobha Karandlaje are trying to get political gain out of RSS worker Rudresh's death and disrupt the law and order in the state,” said Ivan D'souza, the chief whip of Karnataka Legislative Council.
Addressing the media persons in his office in city on Friday, October 21, Ivan said "The government has the responsibility of protecting every citizen. In Rudresh's case, just because he is a RSS worker, some people are giving meaningless statements. Where they were during Baliga’s murder in city or during Praveen Poojary’s murder near Hebri? It is a dual standard by the BJP leaders including MP Shobha Karandlaje, who is protesting in Freedom Park in Bengaluru with an attempt to reap political benefits.”
“They say that the workers are murdered in Kerala model and UP model. But I question, are the people of Gujarat or Bihar not the Indian citizens? MP Nalin Kumar must not speak like this. About 35 people have been already interrogated and the police commissioner Megharik has already assured speedy action," Ivan added.
"After the BJP came to power at the centre, revenge politics has increased and they are the people who make provocative speeches. Out of the 68 cases registered on provocative speeches in the state, 65 are from DK and Udupi districts.” Ivan said.
Corruption in Yettinahole
Speaking about allegations of corruption in Yettinahole project he said "How can the chief minister get the financial benefits when the DPR of the project was approved by DV Sadananda Gowda and permitted by Jagadish Shettar? And as per the same DPR, the project is implemented with the same amount of funds. When the project was approved, BJP leaders including Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa supported this project and only Nalin Kumar Kateel opposed it. If Nalin has any proof about the corruption, let him show the same, but not make baseless allegations. The MP must speak responsibly."
When asked about his stand about the new projects that are being floated in regard to Nethravati river water, he said “Any project that hampers the drinking water and irrigation requirements of the district will be opposed except for the three months of rainy season.”
The MLC also distributed financial aids worth Rs 4 lacs from chief minister’s relief fund to 5 beneficiaries at the occasion.
Interim president of district congress Ibrahim Kodijal and others were present.
