Kundapur, Oct 22: Police personnel from Kollur station have succeeded in arresting two persons in connection with an incident in which a motor bike rider was intercepted on October 20 at Dali near Kollur and robbed.
Uday Sherugar (49) from Subbarasana Toplu in Kollur village was moving in his motor bike towards Dali in Kollur at around 9.45 am on Thursday when six persons seated in a car blocked his way. They hit Uday with an iron road, sprayed chilly powder into his eyes, and forcibly took away his possessions. Sherugar had said in his complaint that the robbers had taken away a cell phone worth Rs 8,000 and Rs 1,000 in cash found in his pocket.
The police who undertook the investigation, succeeded in arresting Mohan Kumar alias Moni (27), a native of Bhadravathi, and Narendra Babu (27) from Magadi taluk in Ramanagara district. The arrests were made on the night of Thursday from Areshirur village near Byndoor. The car and the rod used for robbery were confiscated from their possession.
Uday Sherugar was a president of Kollur gram panchayat. Police are also probing the case from murder angle as it has now emerged that leasing of lodges in Kollur has a connection to this incident.
Police are on the lookout for the remaining four accused, identified as Chandrakumar, Jani, Siddha and Nagesh.
