Mangaluru: Philanthropist Suresh Bhandary chosen for Pingara Rajyotsava Award

Mangaluru, Oct 26: “Noted philanthropist and social worker of Dakshina Kannada Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary has been chosen for the Pingara Rajyotsava Award-2016 given by the ‘Pingara’ Kannada weekly,” announced Roy Castelino, convenor of the award selection committee and the president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.

Addressing the reporters in city on Wednesday October 26, Castelino said, “Suresh Bhandary was chosen for the award in recognition of his service to society. He is the founder president of World Bhandary Mahamandala Foundation, founder president of Sainath Mitra Mandal, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai, founder president of Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary Charitable Family Trust and through these associations he has helped many.” 

“He has helped many who landed in Mumbai from coastal Karnataka with the purpose to earn their daily bread and has been a helping hand to the needy,” pointed out Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of state Kannada Sahitya Parishat. 

“The selection panel comprised of Roy Castelino, Harikrishna Punaroor, Fr William Menezes, C G Pinto, Dr B G Suvarna, Elias Fernandes and Bala Jagannatha Shetty,” informed Raymond D'Cunha editor of ‘Pingara’. 

Members of the committee C G Pinto, Elias Fernandes from Winds Mass Communication were present among others. 

The 12th award presentation ceremony will be held at Town Hall here on November 22.
