Udupi, Oct 27: The state government has appointed senior advocate from the city, M Shantaram Shetty, as special public prosecutor (PP) to plead the case relating to cold-blooded murder of NRI entrepreneur, Bhaskar Shetty. An order this affect was passed by the government on Wednesday October 26.
Bhaskar Shetty's mother, Gulabi Shetty, along with some other family members had approached the government with a request to appoint Shantaram Shetty as the special public prosecutor for handling this case. The prosecution had been represented so far by senior assistant public prosecutor, Praveen Kumar R N in additional civil court and the court of the chief judicial magistrate. In district and sessions court, district public prosecutor, Shanti Bai, had appeared in this case.

The public prosecutor is now required to hand over all the papers relating to the case to Shantaram Shetty.
In the meanwhile, the bail application moved by Rajeshwari Shetty, prime accused in the above case, has been posted to Wednesday for enabling the public prosecuctor to file objections. As no objections were received on Wednesday, the court adjourned the case to October 28 to enable filing of objections.
