Arnab Goswami resigns as Editor-in-chief of Times Now

New Delhi, Nov 1(Indian Express): Senior journalist Arnab Goswami has resigned as the Editor-in-chief of Times Now. Goswami was not seen on his prime time show The Newshour in the past couple of days.

Sources said that he announced his resignation at an editorial meeting. Goswami resigned from the post as he wanted to start something on his own, said sources. The channel, however, is still showing teasers of Newshours with Arnab.

Goswami was recently given “Y category” security cover from the government after the Intelligence Bureau perceived a threat to his life from “Pakistan-based terrorists groups”. He was to get 24-hour protection from around 20 security personnel, including two personal security officers, who will guard him from close distance.

Goswami started his career in The Telegraph in Kolkata. But within a year he joined NDTV in 1995. He later joined Times Now as its Editor-in-chief in 2006. He was often criticised for being judgmental on his news show.

All Arnab Goswami haters in this forum are fooling themselves and spitting in upward direction. On one hand they say his program is poor quality, biased ... bla bla. But the comments in this forum itself proves how popular he is. So many haters watching his program so definitely his supporters will not miss his program. Entire Times now TRP is because of News hour. Poor NDTv Bakra Dutt changed her program timing and NDtv became free to air channel because of low TRP. No fake person and anti nationals can face Arnab. All of them get exposed. Best example Pappu, kujliwal, entire congress leadership, fake NGOs like john dayal etc. Arnab was great, is great and will be great Journalist. Baaki sab bakwaas!

He was clearly biased. He always had one BJP person, one RSS person and two pro-BJP so-called journalist/accountant all four of them screaming against one person from Congress or other parties. TMC had boycotted his show since long and Congress lately. It is good for journalism and Times Now that he is gone.

He spoiled reputation of journalistic profession, revered and adored by people. He tried to push people to think in narrow minded way, with absolutely no factual base. Everyone knew he was BJP mole, yet he projected himself as a more nationalistic than every living person in India.

This is something we can see in every BJP spokesman & RSS digital warriors. But, thankfully for him there are still 2 more years are there for Modi, so may be he will soon be a governor of a state or a BJP spokesman. Atleast, that will be much more noble, as people would know clearly his idealogical tilt.

Hope Indian media will soon get the credibility it lost.

I was his fan until I saw he too was prejudiced, biased & wasn't letting a meaningful debate by becoming the accuser, judge & stopping others from replying with his outbursts that defy logic.
I changed to more saner(very few left now) channels & most of the times I felt so bored with all channels harping the same story which is insignificant for common people at large with inflation & bad governance pinching their pockets & lifestyle to care a hoot about silly issues by slamming all those who didn't toe your line or dared to question as anti nationals without any concrete evidence.
The media everywhere seems biased when I look at US media as well, with them twisting words, putting their own instead of Truth & airing witnesses without verifying their stories too.

    EVERY ...... HAS ITS DAY.
This Arnab was thinking of no end to himself. I dont understand how the Times Group was tolerating him.
No one in the history of news channels has ever taken the freedom of calling people for discussion and not allowing them to talk, giving his own views instead of listening to them, deciding on outcome of the issue without even allowing discussion and most of all insulting the person who has come all the way to take part in discussion.
My guess is, he might have been asked to go (better late than never) by the channel people.
Times Group must have learnt a lesson after finding themselves of losing popularity.
This is what happens when the media starts taking sides and gives subjective news.
