Udupi, Nov 5: Speaking about the rumours making the rounds about chances of his joining BJP being bright, former MP and minister, Jayaprakash Hegde confessed to having received offer from the BJP to join that party. He however, said that a final decision would be taken only after holding detailed discussions with his fans, supporters, friends and well-wishers. He said that BJP leaders had contacted him and requested him to take a favourable decision on their offer, duly informing him that former state minister, Srinivas Prasad, is likely to join them.
He said he had allowed open discussions to take place about his political future, duly adding that he has many people in the Congress who have soft corner for him. He explained that the environment in a party after joining it gives different experiences to different people and therefore he would like to be cautious before taking further steps. About his chances of joining JDS, he said that he had remained a neutral when Janata Party split into two. "Under the current circumstances, building JDS into formidable force in twin-districts is very difficult," he remarked.
It may be recalled that Hegde had deserted Congress in 2015 after revolting against the party's decision to field Pratapchandra Shetty as legislative council candidate. He had fought as rebel candidate in this election, but tasted defeat.
