Dammam, Nov 7: Three months back, a construction labourer, Bhoomanandan from Telangana met with a tragic accident at work and later succumbed to death due to serious injuries. Indian Social Forum (ISF), successfully managed to return the mortal remains to his family after three months of long legal battle.
Incident details: Bhoomanandan from Telangana was working as a painter at a construction site and met with an accident at work. He had earlier absconded from his local sponsor and was working in the kingdom without any legal document. His local sponsor declared him absconding 'Huroob' which is a punishable offence in the kingdom and it was nearly impossible for Bhoomanandan to return back home without facing imprisonment.
Incidentally, Bhoomanandan was seriously injured on his head and succumbed to death. But there were many hurdles to cremate him in the kingdom or even to return the body back home. Son of late Bhoomanandan who is also employed in the kingdom, approached Indian Social Forum (ISF) Karnataka chapter for help in his legal struggle.
The Social Forum took on the issue and had a series of discussions with the local sponsor of Bhoomanandan and convinced him to withdraw ‘Huroob' or absconding case only after the sponsor was satisfied with the team, did he agree to revert the absconding case registered against Bhoomanandan. They were ready to provide all the legal documentation which helped in clearing the legal procedures. ISF also coordinated and cleared all the required documents from the hospital, local police authorities, Indian Embassy as well as the documents needed from India and the required documentation by airlines to shift the body.
Mortal remains of Bhoomanandan were cremated according to Hindu rituals at his home town. ISF thanks Dammam Central Hospital management for helping in getting discounts on hospital bills. ISF also thanks the airline staff, Indian Embassy and district administration back home for assisting and guiding them.
Members of ISF community developmet wing, Mohammed Shamsuddin, Ibrahim Krishnapura, Zakriya, Abdul Khadar Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Naushad Katipala successfully completed the task.
