Bantwal, Nov 12: While people are waiting in lines to exchange old currency notes or to deposit and draw them in front of ATMs, a woman has been praised for her sincerity relating to money found in ATM.
The woman named Jenita Meena D’Cunha is talk of town for returning the cash that came out from the machine in Thumbay to the rightful owner.
T Hakeem from Thumbay had gone to an ATM in Thumbay Fathima Towers to draw cash a week ago. He inserted his ATM card in the machine, entered the secret code and pressed the button several times to draw cash. However the machine stopped working due to power failure. As power did not come even after long time, he pressed ‘Cancel’ button and returned from there.
A little while later, Jenita Meena D' Cunha who works for Kankanady Father Muller hospital, went to the same ATM to draw cash. She saw cash that had already come out from the machine. She took it and after drawing her cash, went to the medical director of Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay Dr Kiran Shetty. She handed over the cash to him and explained what transpired in the ATM.
Dr Kiran Shetty immediately sent the money to Bantwal rural police though the hospital staff Jason. Jason gave the cash to sub-inspector (SI) A K Rakshith Gowda.
Meanwhile Hakeem, who is working as a pickup driver, had informed about the loss of Rs 10,000 to building owner where the ATM is situated and Corporation Bank where he had his account. SI Rakshith verified the facts and phoned Hakeem to come to police station with relevant records.
Hakeem received the money in the presence of Jason. SI Rakshith, head constable Janardhan and other police personnel praised the sincerity of Father Muller Hospital staff Jenita Meena D'Cunha.
