Udupi: ‘Responsibility of Lawyer to Take Care of Guiltless Person’

Udupi, Jan 11: In the name of law, a common man should not face injustice. It is the responsibility of a lawyer to take care of guiltless person who is targeted to punishment, said Jayaprakash Hedge, former minister and chief guest on the occasion here on Thursday January 10.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of cultural eve arranged at Madhava Mantap as part of ‘Law Fest’ of Vaikuntha Baliga Law College of Kunjibettu here.

He further said that students should try to eradicate corruption which is highly influential at executive, judiciary, press and at regional sections. Sometimes people create laws for self-advantages, he added.

Pramod Madhwaraj, entrepreneur inaugurated the programme. , Prakash Kanive, vice-principal of the College presided over the function. Shrikanth welcomed the gathering while Melwin D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Minnu Varghese compered the programme.

K Raghupathy Bhat, former MLA, Gopal Bhandary, president, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, Suresh Shetty, entrepreneur, Ignatius D’Souza, former member, Udupi taluk panchayat and Gururaj Shetty, student leader were present on the occasion.
