Udupi, Nov 21: Civil engineer by profession and a passionate singer, Leslie Cornelio’s maiden Konkani audio album ‘Sangeet Sambrham’ is set to be released on Wednesday November 23.
Leslie’s passion for music started way back in his childhood. When he was in the 8th standard, he joined the church choir and later as youth, he sang with other professionals in various occasions. At present he is an active member of the Udupi Church choir.
Last year, he won the runner-up trophy in the Wilfy Rebimbus diocesan-level singing competition held in Udupi. He was also the finalist of Wilfy Rebimbus singing competition in Mangaluru under the duet category.
His maiden musical venture, 'Sangeet Sambrham', consists of Konkani songs based on themes such as nation, environment and love.
Leslie himself has rendered two solos, a duet and a group song in the album. His children, Lennon and Leanne Cornelio have sung a duet dedicated to nation. Singers Valentine D'Souza, Anil D’Sa, Pangala, Nelson Lewis, Jovita Fernandes, Shilpa Coutinha, Sabitha Mathias (second runner-up of GVOM – 5), Flavy Fernandes and Ayshel D’Souza have rendered their melodious voices in the album.
The lyrics and music have been given by Loy Castelino and these songs were arranged and recorded by Joel Pereira.
'Sangeet Sambrham' will be released by Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi during the annual feast celebrations of Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi in a colourful event to be held in the evening.
Fr Fredrick Mascarenhas, parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, Fr Clement Mascarenhas, Fr Denis D’Sa, PRO of the diocese, Fr Valerian Mendonca, chancellor of the diocese, Jerry Vincent Dias of Mandavi Developers and Manohar S Shetty of Sai Radha Group of Concerns will be present on the occasion.
After the release of the CD, 'Sangeeth Sanz' will be held wherein the album singers will perform songs from the CD along with other famous Konkani numbers. Antony Roche, Glen Monies, Prem Pinto will put up a skit on the occasion. Roshan Crasta will compere the event.
