Dubai: 'Jingles' to raise funds for 3 ailing children this Christmas

Media Release

Dubai, Nov 23: It is that time of the year, where many amongst us will make grand plans to celebrate Christmas and New Year, parties, balls and gala dinners. However, on the other hand, a group of 40 people based in the city comprising of tiny tots, youngsters, family members and golden oldies, calling themselves 'Jingles' are trying to raise funds for three families struggling to pay for treatment of their children suffering from Leukaemia and other life threatening diseases here.

The idea was born in 2012, when they helped a young AC technician who was injured on the job, for his treatment and rehabilitation. They did it again in 2014, when the group raised AED 333,000 in just 9 days for 3 children with Leukaemia and now those 3 little ones are well on their way to recovery with only a few months of chemotherapy left for them to be living normal lives like any other children.

This year, the group, 'Jingles' is registered with Red Crescent and also has the permission from the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department under Licence Number 102. 'Jingles Carol Singing Group', is geared to spread the cheer of Christmas into homes and workplaces with their lovely round of carols in order to assist the families of Pakistani expat child, Emica Sarfaraz aged 2, Moroccan expat child, Omar aged 4, both suffering from Leukaemia and Indian expat child, Mohammed Hamza aged 1 who have been diagnosed with Uremic Syndrome.

The parents of three children, do not earn enough to continue paying for treatment for their children who are all admitted at Dubai Hospital. Having spent all they could, now the parents are looking for a miracle from the Almighty to assist their children to come out of their illness.

This is where 'Jingles' renders carols at the homes and offices of friends and colleagues to raise funds for the affected families. The amount required for treatment as per hospital sources is Emica – AED 100000, Omar – AED 200000 and Mohammed – AED 10000. The total target set for this year as AED 400000. The group will start their carol singing from November 25 till the weekend before Christmas at corporate requests, even though most of the members are working full time as well.

All funds gathered by 'Jingles' during their carolling and also via direct collections will be handed over to Dubai Hospital via Red Crescent for treatment of the above children, thus spreading the message that joy of the season is in giving, rather than in taking.

Those interested in inviting Jingles to their homes / offices may contact: Jessica David (050 7264079) or Davina Castelino (050 8611821).
