Mangaluru, Nov 24: The postal authorities have revoked the suspension of a postman, who was suspended for keeping several gunny bags full of undelivered post including Adhar cards at home.
Ashok from Vittal, working as postman in Mukka post office was suspended. He had worked in Mukka post office since 2008. After passing the departmental examination, he was absorbed into permanent service of postal department in 2014. He was deputed to Kodialbail post office.
When working in Mukka post office, Ashok was residing in a rented home at Meenakaliya. As he had neither paid rent for the house nor returned the key, the owners had broken the door open. They had found about ten gunny bags full of undelivered letters inside the house. After it came to the notice of the department, steps were taken to deliver these pending items. The postman was suspended and an inquiry was ordered.
Some locals like Purushotham and Yajnesh have objected to revocation of suspension order in spite of such a serious offence. However, senior postal superintendent in the city, Jagadish Pai, said that the departmental inquiry into the allegation of dereliction of duty against the postman will be concluded in about three months time. He said that suspension was withdrawn as per departmental rules as inquiry was not yet complete, and the employee is eligible to draw full salary as per provisions now.
