Mangalore, Jan 14: Sunday, January 13 was the memorable day for Mangalore University, as it witnessed the movement of tennis giants and upcoming tennis talents on it campus. Since it was the finale of the prestigious national sports event ‘All India Inter-University Women’s Tennis Tournament’, it was everyone's expectation that finale would not be a bed of roses, but exciting for the lovers of Tennis.
The day offered surprising shots and quick movement of the players. Players on both the sides left no corner of the court, with feverish servings. The ball was shot and directed to all the possible corners on either side, in order to check their luck with the great expectation to ascertain the moments of triumph.
Surprisingly, the match had to witness the neck-to-neck fight between two capital cities; Bangalore and Delhi. In the finale, the University of Delhi took on the state based, University of Bangalore. Audience was sure that the competition will be exciting to the limits as it provided the court for the players who successfully claimed all the preliminary rounds including the semifinals.
Players from both the universities were waiting for the moments anxiously as the level of confidence of them was high as they proved equally competent and believed that they would not loose the fortune of taking home the national fame, but the time had its own impartial results, as per the performance in the finale.
The result at the end was obvious that Bangalore University lost to Delhi University in a cut throat competition, but the way both the universities played made the audience to stand on its toes.
Ankhitha B, Sana B, Parul and Shalini from Delhi University were confident of themselves, as they had the experience of having played at national level tennis tournaments. On the other hand, Amulya, Asha, Akshitha and Aleshya who represented the University of Bangalore, were also no less confident as they were sure that it might not be possible that their win would be sure like northern star, but they would push the opposite team to the edge, which they made it while fighting for the title.
Tactics played by the players to take the trophy home, displayed their tenacity of the players; thereby holding the flags high. Nonetheless, the University of Delhi was fortunate enough to claim the title, leaving the message that the University of Bangalore had to accept the heroic defeat.
