Mangaluru, Nov 28: On a day declared by the Congress as 'Aakrosh Diwas' to protest against demonetisation, the district unit of BJP Yuva Morcha celebrated the central government's move aimed at curbing black money by bursting crackers and distributing sweets to the people at State Bank here.
President of district BJP unit Sanjeeva Matandoor launched the celebration by handing over a red rose to the branch manager of State Bank as a token of gratitude for cooperating with the government. The gathered also handed over roses to other bank officials and also to the security guard of the bank.
Addressing reporters, Matandoor said that all the bank personnel have managed the crowds efficiently and helped the government in implementing demonetisation and hence the BJP was thanking them.
Former MLC Monappa Bhandary said that the Congress and other political parties are opposing people's opinion by holding the Aakrosh Diwas. "People have been patiently supporting demonetisation by depositing their notes at the bank. They have understood the importance of this decision but the the political parties just want to oppose the government." he said.
The gathered also raised slogans against the Aakrosh Diwas and black money hoarders.
