Udupi, Dec 5: Onlookers gaze in wonder at the two beautiful palm trees that have suddenly made their appearance at Manipal. The towers, which look like the original palm trees by mimicking their shapes, sizes and colours of their stems, fronds and leaves, have been erected by Reliance Jio with the aim of ensuring that these mobile towers are in consonance with nature around them.
These two towers have been built by Reliance Jio to meet demand of its consumers. The twin-towers which stand near the campus of Manipal Institute of Technology at Manipal have been built with modern technology in a way that they gel well with local environment. As against the normal towers which beam signals on a single direction, these towers transmit signals in circular route, thus providing the best network to cellphone users, said a Reliance Jio official here.
To ensure that the tower signals penetrate deep into multi-storied buildings, small cellsl have been fixed to these buildings. As a result even people living in ground floor or underground can use Jio network without any hitches, he added. The palm-shaped towers will be dedicated to the world shortly, but date of their inaugural is yet to be fixed, it is gathered.
As per information, such towers are currently in vogue in Malaysia. The towers therefore do not meddle with the appearance of the cities. Such towers will soon coming up in several towns and cities all over the state. Manipal was picked to station the first such towers in Karnataka because of intensive use of Reliance Jio service by students living in Maniapal, Reliance Jio official, Raviraj, disclosed.
