Bengal observes day of mourning for Jayalalithaa


Kolkata, Dec 6 (IANS): The West Bengal government on Tuesday declared a day of mourning as a mark of respect to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.

As a mark of respect to Jayalalithaa, the state assembly was adjourned "with a deep sense of grief and sorrow", Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted.

A state mourning is being observed. "We are all extremely saddened," the Trinamool Congress chief said.

Trinamool MPs Derek O'Brien and Kalyan Banerjee will attend the funeral in Chennai.
