M'luru: St Aloysius College inaugurates international basketball court

Mangaluru, Dec 6: The new basketball court of international standard at St Aloysius College (autonomous) was inaugurated in front of the college admin block on Monday December 5.

Fr Dionysius Vas SJ, rector, St Aloysius College Institutions blessed the court while the former finance minister of the college Fr Walter Andrade SJ inaugurated the court by cutting the ribbon. Fr Dionysius Vas along with other priests took a shot at the basket to mark the inauguration.

Speaking on the occasion Fr Dionysius Vas said, "It is yet another beautiful facility to promote sports among the students. Physical exercise is taking a back-seat with many other attractions for the students. It is our endeavour to promote physical fitness along with the intellectual formation."

"Basketball is a sport which engages mental activity along with physical. Let the place be a place of integrating body and mind. I call upon the staff as well of the college to make the most of the facility along with the students.

Principal of the college, Fr Swebert D'Silva SJ rendered the welcome while HOD and director of physical education Donnet D'Souza rendered the vote of thanks. Anoushka Pinto compered the programme.

President of the student council Michelle D'Souza, former campus minister Fr Francis Almeida and others were present at the occasion.
