New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS): Thousands of people were affected after a dense fog in parts of northern India on Wednesday forced authorities to cancel seven trains and reschedule 19 while 70 ran behind schedule, officials said.
Three flights were also rescheduled and eight cancelled at the Indira Gandhi International Airport but an official from the Delhi Airport Authority said it was due to other reasons and not fog.
"Operations are stopped only when visibility is less than 50 metres but the visibility was about 150 metres," the official told IANS.
"A total of seven trains to and from Delhi were cancelled and seven delayed beyond 10 to over 24 hours," a railway official told IANS.
The cancelled trains were Kashi-Vishwanath Express, Himgiri Express, Marudhar Express, Swatantrata Senani Express, Delhi Samparkranti Express, Guwahati-Delhi Superfast and Chandigarh Express.
