11 dead in China mine accident


Beijing, Dec 8 (IANS): All 11 trapped miners were confirmed dead after rescuers retrieved the last two bodies late on Wednesday due to a colliery gas outburst in central China's Hubei Province.

The accident occurred on Monday night in Xinjia Coal Mine in Badong County. Five managed to escape straight after the outburst, leaving 11 trapped, Xinhua reported.

The cause of the mine accident was being investigated. The Badong government has ordered a safety overhaul and production suspension for all mines in the county.
