Puttur: St Philomena PU College celebrates Annual Day

Puttur, Dec 9: St Philomena Pre-University College here, celebrated its Annual Day on December 1 at the college auditorium.

Addressing the gathering chief guest of the function, Dr Manjunath Bhandary, chairman, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru said, "In a constantly changing environment, having life skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life. The students must give due significance to various types of skills along with achieving academic performance."

Reverend Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director and professor Leo Noronha, principal, St Philomena College were the guests of honour. Fr Alfred J Pinto, correspondent presided over the function.

Various best outgoing student’s award, general proficiency prizes and achievers in sports, academic, cultural, NCC were awarded on the occasion. Faculty members Prashanth Bhat, Sanjay S, Prakash D’Souza, Anil Kumar and Stella Jesna Lewis presented the details of the achievers.

Dr K Sooryanarayana, president, PTA, Jayakumar Rai M R, president, alumni association and Siddanth S Shetty, president, students’ council were present on this occasion. Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of the college presented the annual report.

Shwethal and group with their prayer song invoked God to shower his choicest blessings. The secretary of the students’ council Anupama Pai welcomed the gathering. The joint secretary Deepa Bhat proposed the vote of thanks. Sherman Baptist Rodrigues compered the programme. The directors of students’ council Bharath Kumar A and Usha Yashavanth A coordinated the programme.

In the afternoon session, a cultural programme was organized. In the colourful show, students brought to light their creative and artistic talents.
