Mangaluru, Dec 10: City police commissioner Chandra Shekar, through an order, has appointed a special officer to investigate the protest staged by police personnel at Mangaluru Rural police station.
ACP Rajendra from Mangaluru City North division is the special officer appointed to probe the protest incident.

The protest was held by the personnel of Mangaluru Rural police station on 8 December, 2015 condemning the action of then police commissioner who sent police inspector Pramod on leave. Pramod was sent on leave after he arrested an accused relating to a case in Ulaibettu.
The order by the police commissioner dated December 9, says that the special officer should investigate the case of 9 police personnel protesting in front of the police station in support of then police inspector Pramod. The order also says that the probe should be finished within three months and a report should be submitted.
All the police personnel involved in the protest have been transferred to different police stations since then including inspector Pramod.
