Mangalore: Billava Guru Sri Atmananda Swamiji Honoured at Nehru Maidan

Mangalore, Jan 22: Honouring ceremony for Sri Atmananda Saraswati Swamiji of Kanyana, located in Beltangady taluk, whose ascension into peetam was performed at his native, was held at Nehru Maidan on Tuesday, January 22 evening.
Sri Prakashanand Swamiji of Shivagiri Math inaugurated the programme and graced the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Sri Mohandas Swamiji of Manila Math, said that the Billava - Ediga community has suffered from humiliations and untouchability in the past years. Owing to the visionary’s efforts of Sri Narayan Guru, the community has grown vibrant in the society. ‘Guru Peeta’ for this community would serve as another milestone, he opined.
Sri Vikyatananda Swami opined that Guru is the one who sacrifices all for the well being of others. Sri Atmananda Swamji has such virtues. It is glad that the Swamiji has decided to work for educating the community, he added.
Sri Dharmapalananda Swamiji, Sri Niranjan Swamiji, MP Bangarappa, former ministers Shivananda Naika and Kagodu Thimmappa, Navinchandra D Suvarna, president of All India Billava Association, former MLAs, Yogish Bhat, Krishna Palemar, Rukkaiah Poojary, Sunil Kumar, Prabhakar Bangera, Madhu Bangarappa, BP Heraje, SP of Gulbarga and others were present on this occasion.
Janardhan Shanthi of Karkala invoked the prayer hymn. Mohan Acharya, in-charge of Sri Rama temple, Kanyady, welcomed the gathering.
