Mangaluru, Dec 14: Every Mangalurean would agree, there is no sight quite like Mangaluru when it rains. Added to that, the lovely chill that the light, wintry December showers bring with them can turn the city magical.
That is what happened on Wednesday December 14.
Due to the influence of Vardah cyclone that hit Tamil Nadu on Monday December 12, the twin districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada have been experiencing cloudy weather since the last couple of days. Almost all the areas in the coast received light drizzle since early morning on Tuesday and on Wednesday.
The entire coastal belt was enveloped in clouds the whole day on Wednesday. Because of intermittent drizzle, the climate has turned colder. People were caught off guard, but there were quite a few who were prepared with the bright umbrellas! Most, however, simply enjoyed the drizzle as they went about their business.
Towards evening, the temperature in Mangaluru dropped to low 20s (celsius).
Neighbouring Kodagu district has been receiving drizzle since Monday midnight and weather there continues to be cold. Bengaluru too has received its share of unseasonal rains and chill.
