Puttur, Dec 17: 'Mestri Tuja Manak' - a musical tribute to the late Denis D'Souza will be held at Puttur on December 18 in St Philomena High School premises at 6.30 pm.
Denis D’Souza, a national awardee teacher, popularly remembered as the 'Headmaster' even today, besides being an educational head, was a great lover of sports and music. He was instrumental in the formation of a group of singers for Puttur parish, who, under his training kept on winning several coveted prizes at the inter-parish Konkani singing competitions conducted by Konkani Natak Sabha, Mangaluru, consecutively during 70s and 80s. He led the group from the front as a singer, lyricist and composer of several songs.
'Mestri Tuja Manak' is a loving tribute to the great master by the singers of Puttur origin and beneficiaries of his relentless efforts, now spread across the globe by way of rendering his self-composed Konkani songs. Renowned musician Joel Pereira and his team will provide musical accompaniment.
The programme with free entry is being hosted by Don Bosco Club, Puttur as part of its golden jubilee celebrations.
