Puttur, Dec 20: Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel has said that surgical strike type of agitation will be launched if Yettinahole project is not stopped by the government by January 26, the deadline given by the protestors.
Nalin was speaking to reporters here on Monday, December 20.
“People of Dakshina Kannada are cultured, educated and law abiding citizens. But the government always takes them for granted. We had asked for a meeting on Netravathi River diversion to debate the issue. But the people of the area have not been taken into confidence and the government is trying to implement the project with arrogance. People here gave good mandate for Congress in the last elections but the Congress in turn cheated the people.” Nalin added.
“The state government does not have any concern for commoners and farmers. The government is busy in protecting resigned minister H Y Meti who has been involved in sex scam and other tainted people. Hence it has failed to keep the people happy.” Nalin said.
Speaking on the support price on areca nuts, he said that the Narendra Modi government has announced Rs 160 crore for areca nuts after a delegation of members of parliament under the leadership of Yeddyurappa met him.
He also criticized the law and order system in Dakshina Kannada district. He said the district has become a Tughlak Raj after sand, forest, and cow trafficking mafias are controlling the region.
