Udupi, Dec 20: A 17-year-old hanged herself in her residence at Bidalkatte here on Tuesday December 20.
The deceased has been identified as Kavana, a student of second PU.
It is learnt that contrary to routine, Kavana did not come out of her room for tea on Tuesday morning. Her father Ramachandra Achar called out to her, but there was no response and her room was shut from the inside.
As Kavana did not respond, Ramachandra informed his neighbours and with their help, the door was broken open. They found that Kavana had hanged herself from the ceiling fan with the help of a saree. Her body was convulsing and she was rushed to hospital, but breathed her last on the way.
It is said that she had pursued first PU in a college at Bidalkatte, but as she failed, she switched over to a private tutorial at Kundapur for second PU.
A death note was found in her room, in which Kavana is understood to have stated that she alone was responsible for her death. She also apologised to her parents and younger brother for taking the extreme step, but did not reveal the reason behind her action. ''Sorry papa, sorry amma, sorry tamma (brother)'' her note read.
A case has been registered in Kota police station.
