Bengaluru, Dec 21 (DHNS): The city police have arrested four youths on the charge of circulating colour photocopies of Rs 2,000 denomination notes.
The arrested are Shashank, 22, Madhu Kumar, 19, Kiran 21, all residents of Bhuvaneshwarinagar and Nagaraj, 27, of Mariyappanapalya. The police have seized eight colour photocopies of Rs 2,000 denomination note.
According to the police, Madhu went to Varalakshmi wines store on Mallathalli ring road on December 18, 2016 and bought some liquor. He gave a colour photocopy of Rs 2,000 note to Nagesh H R, the store owner. Sometime later, Nagesh realised that he had been duped.
Madhu went to the wine store again on December 19 at 7.30 pm and gave a colour photocopy of Rs 2,000 note. This time around, Nagesh grew suspicious and verified the note. Upon realising that it was not a genuine note, he caught Madhu and took him to police station. He produced the two colour photocopies of the notes before the police.
During questioning, Madhu told the police that he had connived with three other suspects and got the photocopies of the note at Kiran Kumar’s shop at Bannerghatta.
All the four circulated photocopies of Rs 2,000 note at shops after buying some goods. The police are interrogating them to ascertain how many colour photocopies they have circulated so far.
