Mangaluru, Dec 24: In two separate incidents, two persons were detained at the airport here on Friday, December 24.

A man from Pandeshwar here was taken into custody by the immigration authorities at the airport here on Friday December 23 because of the fact that his behaviour gave rise to suspicion in their minds, it is gathered.

The man had arrived at the airport here along with wife for flying to Sharjah on Friday morning. His behaviour seemed strange and he did not furnish proper replies when questioned. During his questioning by immigration officials too, it was found that his response was not proper. As his behaviour gave rise to suspicion, the immigration officials refused permission for him to fly and detained him for further investigation, it is said. The wife, in the meanwhile, was sent back home.

Initially, the man was found to be behaving irresponsibly and oddly at the airport. As the security persons found his behaviour strange, they questioned him, but did not get satisfactory replies. Thereafter, immigration officials too got doubt about him on the basis of his improper and incoherent response, it is said.

However, police officials from the city said that till Friday night they have not got any information about this incident.

Live bullet found - passenger detained at airport

During the course of security inspection, staff at the airport here found live bullet in the pocket of a young passenger. He was taken into custody by the police later.

The young passenger in question has been identified as Arjun, a native of Gujarat. His parents are currently living in the city, and he is pursuing his studies at Mysuru, it is learnt.

Arjun had come to the airport for flying to Mumbai and then to Rajkot, his native place. After finding live bullet in his pocket during the frisking, the security personnel turned him over to the Bajpe police, who are investigating the case.

    The first incident is weird.

What is the point of immigration officials of detaining the person? If all the relevant documents are checked then what more do they want?

The article says that his behaviour was odd and that's why he was singled out for further questioning. If anyone's behaviour arouses suspicion, they will definitely be interrogated - even in Dubai, Frankfurt or London.

Whether they are immigration officials or clinical psychologist to analyse passenger behaviour.

When some of the authority make any mistake they are not legally accountable and thats why we have number of suspicious arrests.

My dear Sirs, Just because a guy has got all the documents for a flight does not mean that he cannot be a danger to the aircraft. Even the guys who blew up the planes on 9/11 in the USA must have had proper documents. The Police have done a wonderful job by observing the weird behaviour of the man. Just imagine if something had happebnd to the plane , everyone would have blamed the airport security. I say GOOD JOB by the CISF and Police.

The first incidence is of interest to me.

If a passenger has got his papers right, including valid passport, valid tickets and valid visa, what is the necessity of further questions?
How does the airports like Dubai, Frankfurt and heathrow handle such a huge number of passengers without long queues? The officers check only the three things mentioned above and no further questions. Only the time they waste is with their pleasant courtesies of wishing a safe journey.

In mangalore airport you should be prepared to questions both on arrival and departure!!
