Mangalore: Burns Unit, New Medical Ward Inaugurated at FMMCH

Mangalore, Jan 28: Burns Unit and new medical ward of Fr Muller Medical College Hospital, was inaugurated by MR Vasudeva, Bajpe airport director, here at the medical college, on Monday January 28.

Appreciating the efforts of the hospital to serve the society with dedication, the director said that in case of air crash, burn unit plays a decisive role in treating the victims which has been proved in an air crash at Ahmedabad, during 1988.   The units gave air crash victims a new lease of life.

Fr Patrick Rodrigues, in his presidential address, said that the unit has been set up to meet the challenges like domestic and industrial injuries in the region.

Fr Denis D'Sa, administrator, welcomed the gathering.

Dr Leo Menezes, Dr KR Bhat, other faculty members and students were present on the occasion.

    Mangalore has 35 super speciality hospitals and until now none with an exclusive burns ward. Now the long felt need has been fulfilled. Let god strengthen the hands of Fr Mullers to treat the poor patients with burn injuries, economically.
