Mangalore: Mobile Van Spreads Bapu's Messsage on Martyr's Day

Mangalore, Jan 30: A mobile van service disseminating the teachings and principles of Mahatma Gandhi was flagged-off in the city by district deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao at his office here on Wednesday January 30.

The city and Udupi units of Junior Chamber International (JCI) organized the van service on the occasion of Martyr's Day to promote and publicize the Mahatma's ideals.

Veteran Tulu writer Dr Vaman Nandavara distributed books on Gandhi and non-violence on the occasion.

The vehicle will cover 50 kilometres per day and about 250 kilometres will be coverd in the next five days. The vehicle will be welcomed by Krishna Palemar, former MLA and Puttige swamiji at Suratkal and Udupi respectively on arrival.

Office bearers of JCI were present on the occasion.

    It's a Great gesture from JCI Mangalore & Udupi. At the time when Bapu being remembered only on two occasions in the whole year like Oct 2nd & Jan 30 the members of JCI Mangalore & Udupi have taken a novel effort in spreading Gandhiji's message among the youth. Hope this small contribution brings a positive change in the community
