Bengaluru, Jan 2: The State Government has ordered a probe by the Criminal Investigation Department into alleged murder of two JD(S) party workers at Thoppanahalli village in Maddur taluk in Mandya district on December 25.
Two JD(S) workers - Nandish (25) and Muthuraj (48) - were stabbed to death and three others injured following a clash between two groups over water.
Five people were arrested on Monday in connection with the incident.
It is learnt that there was a running feud between two groups over drinking water in the village.
Following a tense situation in the village and as part of the efforts to nab the culprits, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara has ordered a CID probe into alleged murder of two JD(S) workers.
State JD(S) President H D Kumaraswamy visited Maddur and consoled the kin of the deceased.
Kumaraswamy lashed out at the Home Minister and alleged that the law and order in the State has completely collapsed under him.
