Mangaluru, Jan 4: A grand Hore Kanike procession was held here on Wednesday January 4, ahead of the feast of Infant Jesus Shrine scheduled to be celebrated on January 14
The procession was flagged off by chief whip of Legislative Council Ivan D'Souza, parish priest of Kulshekar Fr Victor Machado, director of the Shrine Fr Elias D'Souza and other dignitaries.
The colourful offertory procession which witnessed participation of myriad faithful devotees culminated in front of the Infant Jesus Shrine at Bikarnakatte. The procession comprised offertory items contributed by various donors in the city
Director of 'Rishivana' Fr Pius D'Souza blessed the flag of the shrine while Chikkaballapur MP Veerappa Moily along with other dignitaries, hoisted the shrine flag.
Addressing the gathering, Veerappa Moily said, "It is my privilege to be part of this annual feast at Bikarnakatte which is also called as the shrine of miracles. There is no religious barrier to entering the shrine to seek blessings. It is neccessary to pray with a pure heart without any malice to anyone. If our heart is pure, definitely Jesus will bless us. God sees no caste and never discriminates, then why are there so many differences among people?"
Well-wishers and organizing team of the procession were honoured on the occasion.
MUDA chairman Suresh Balla, corporators Sabitha Misquith, Bhaskar Moily, superior of the shrine Fr Joe Tauro, director of the shrine Fr Elias D'Souza, and others were present.
The novena will commence from Thursday January 5 and will conclude with the celebration of feast of Infant Jesus on January 14.
