Udupi: ICAI holds two day National Convention 'Jnana Sangama' for CA students

Ganesh B Kanchan, chairman of the city's ICAI branch and convention coordinator addressed media persons here on Thursday January 5. In his addressal he said, "Branches belonging to Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in the city and Southern India Chartered Accountants Students Association (SICASA) will organize a two day national convention for chartered accountant students titled ‘Jnana Sangam’ which will held at Town Hall Ajjarkad on January 13 and 14."


Kanchan disclosed, "More than 1,000 CA students from across the country are expected to participate in the convention here. The convention will focus on equipping students with skills and developing their knowledge. Resource persons will present papers on various topics like taxes, auditing and accounting, GST, information and technology. As per the schedule, motivational sessions for students pursuing CA will also be held."

CA Madhukar N Hiregange, Central Council member ICA, will speak on ‘How to be a successful CA’. MP Vijaya Kumar will present a topic on ‘Startup companies in India – way forward for entrepreneurship – Recent development in labour laws'.

Another resource person, CA Ananthanarayana Pai K will deliver a talk on ‘Internal financial control system in case of companies and IND AS – as applicable to Small and medium enterprises’.

Sridhar Kamath M will present a paper on ‘Money Laundering, taxation and capital v/s revenue Expenditure’. Kota Srinivas, vice chairman, SIRC of ICAI will speak on the ‘Cashless transaction – Role of Information and Technology and Cyber frauds’.

Udupi district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj will inaugurate the programme, while Babu Abraham Kallivayalil, chairman, board of studies, ICAI and Babu K Thevar, chairman, Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of ICAI, will take part in the interaction programme.

M Devraja Reddy president, ICAI and others will be the chief guests at the inaugural session at 12 noon on January 13. The session will commence on January 13 at 9.30 am.

Narrottam Mishra, principal commissioner of Income Tax, Mangaluru will be chief guest at the valedictory function.

ICAI Udupi branch secretary Rekha Devanand, treasurer Mahindra Shenoy, student council president Narashimma Nayak and member Pradeep Jogi were present at the press meet.
