Solving Umesh Shetty's murder started with the finding of his purse in the forest near Niddodi by a group of adventure-seekers from the Gulf, Philippines and Bombay who wanted to experience walking in the jungle in contrast living and driving in concrete jungles.the group, related to me, was on an year-end visit to Mangalore and I hosted them at my residence before they set out for the jungle treck.
They did not tom-tom their finding of the purse of the murdered man because in such criminal cases such third parties are harassed to visit police stations and courts.
In the case of motor accidents the good Samaritans who help the victim and admit them to hospitals are now allowed to go without any police harassment as was done earlier.in the case of murder or any other criminal situations people who help to detect the crime should not be harassed.
